TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Headquarters are currently investigating the involvement of AP, a company suspected to be involved in the Riau Province forest fires that caused a haze to engulf areas in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
"The company has a plantation in Riau," said spokesman Grand Comr. Hilman at the headquarters on Tuesday.
Up until now, the National Police have not concluded whether the company instructed the forest fires or did any other act that caused these fires. The Riau police have indicted 24 suspects, all local residents, so far for the Riau forest fires.
The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (WALHI) has reported 117 plantations and forests owned by industries suspected to be involved in the forest fires to the Environment Department in Sumatra.
