TEMPO.CO, Magelang - A group of young artists in the Magelang Street Art Community will hold an exhibition entitled the "Dopamine Attack Art Exhibition" at Rumahku Art Cafe from June 29 to July 13. This exhibition will be held to prove to society that they are not a group of vandals.
"We can display positive artwork that can be enjoyed by the community," said Isnain Bahar Sasmoyo, one of the artists.
The community will display 40 works of art portraying how the younger generation has a thirst for creating masterpieces. They used walls, canvas, and plywood as their mediums.
"Street art is how we portray our creations. Instead of doing bad things, this form of art is an effective way to convey our happiness," said Isnain.
This street art community is often labeled as a group of vandals when in fact they create works of art to convey their concerns about current issues in the nation.
"Their art often includes themes such as human rights, fuel, gender equality, and others," said Raka Adhityatama, another member of the community.
The group has not found a suitable location for expressing themselves. They often have to hide and sneak around when trying to convey their ideas through street art.
"We are often chased by the civil police (Satpol PP) when we paint in random places. It isn’t right, but what else can we do," added Raka.
