TEMPO.CO, Semarang - A number of states in the United States of America (US), such as Seattle and Hawaii, will partner up with the Semarang Administration to develop their educational experiences by exchanging teachers and students.
"This is to pave the way for education and exchange education systems," said Robert R. Neu, Federal Ways Public Schools superintendant, during his visit to Semarang yesterday.
Robert said the partnership would improve all levels of high school and vocational school education, including of educators and students. Up to now, there are different education systems in every region. However, Robert believes these differences will be interesting to study by involving educators and students.
Few realize that Hawaii and Seattle have a unique community based educational system. This system is believed to be useful for vocational school students in Semarang.
Head of the Semarang Education Department Bunyamin, warmly welcomes the partnership. He said the exchange of students and teachers is needed in order to meet the demands of globalization.
