TEMPO.CO, Banda Aceh – Medan Archelogical Office announced that they have discovered elephant skeletons in Loyang Mendale site in Central Aceh. The skeletons were assreted to be originated from 10,000 years ago. "The skeleton was discovered when we were researching for prehistoric men," said Ketut Wiradnyana, the head of research team.
Ketut said that the fossil was discovered in an excavation hole along with human skeletons. Based on a carbon analysis result, the human skeletons were predicted to be 7,525 years.
However, he mentioned that the researchers will focus more on the human skeletons rather than the news-breaking mammal fossil.
