TEMPO.CO, Malang - Muhammad Ayyub (50) from Malang has managed to modify a two-stroke motorbike into using methane fuel (CH4). "It is an environmentally friendly and energy saving vehicle," said Ayyub.
He began his experiment with modifying the vehicle's carburator so it can adapt to methane gas. After some testings, the motorbike can take on 30 kilometers using methane gas compressed in a three-kilogram LPG tank. Ayub is currently working to develop a methane gas fuel station at the Supit Urang landfill in Malang.
Methane vehicle could be an answer towards premium fuel increasing price, as well as an effort to save the environment since methane is released onto air without endangering the ozone layer.
