TEMPO.CO, London - The Football Association (FA) has sent an email to every fans of the English national football team attending the friendly match scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, against the Republic of Ireland national football team. The email urged every football fans to refrain themselves from singing or letting out provocative songs or chantings.
About 18 years ago, a match between the two countries at Lansdowne Road was halted after 27 minutes due to a riot between fans from both teams.
For political reasons, FA hoped that the match can be played out smoothly. Roy Hodgson, coach for the English national team, supported the decision and urged English football fans to not sing any provocative songs during the match.
Previously on March,FA has received a letter from FIFA concerning racist shouting from England football fans to Rio and Anton Ferdinand in a match between England and San Marino.
