TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anis Matta, the President of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), said that his meeting with Din Syamsuddin, the Chief Leader of Central Muhammadiyah, was not related to the corruption cases that his party now faces. He also denied that he sought for moral support to Muhammadiyah.
"We never discussed the case specifically. There was no such discussion," said Anis in Muhammadiyah Central Office. Anis said that the corruption cases involving his party’s officials are personal and do no involve the party itself. Therefore, the case was never discussed in inter-institution meeting.
Anis said that the meeting with Muhammadiyah was to raise support to PKS agenda in legislative sector. Fellow Islamic Organizations, said Anis, must consolidate to ensure that legislative products are aligned with Islamic interests.
Din Syamsuddin welcomed PKS good intention to reach Muhammadiyah. He believed that political party could not run alone to meet its goals. "We are open to anyone. Partnership like this is important," he said.
Some PKS officials came along in the meeting like Secretary General Taufik Ridho, Vice Secretary General Fahri Hamzah, and the Chief of Council Aboe Bakar Al Habsy.
