Directorate General of Tax Cooperate With LAPAN to Assess Tax

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Tax (DJP) at the Finance Ministry and the National Aeronautic and Aviation Institute (LAPAN) have signed a cooperation agreement today. The agreement aims to maximize the utilization of satelite remote sensing imagery in exploiting taxation potentials.
"Beside the utilization of satelite remote sensing imagery, LAPAN will also give technical guidance to the directorate on how to use the data," said DJP spokesman Kismantoro on Tuesday, May 7.
Satelite remote sensing imagery has been widely used in urban planning and disaster mitigation. With the cooperation, DJP will be able to assess the value of tax objects in Indonesia based on geographical information and the size of terriroty and buildings.
Kismantoro stated that the both parties will also establish a coordination forum.
"The forum aims for both parties to implement the plan smoothly," he said.
This year, the government targeted Rp 1,193 trillion (US$122,51 billion) of tax revenue, which is 21,7 percent higher from the 2012 tax revenue which was only Rp 980,1 trillion (US$100,65 billion).
