TEMPO.CO, Palembang - The preliminary hearing of the attack on the Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police headquarters by members of the Tarik Martapura Battalion has been postponed again. The hearing had already been pushed back from its initial schedule by about a week. The trial was supposed to be held today, Apr. 24, at the Palembang Military Court.
"We can ensure that the trial will take place on April 25," Col Jauhari Agus Suradji, head of information at the Kodam Sriwijaya II Military Command said yesterday. Jauhari said the hearing was postponed because the panel of judges from the Armed Forces (TNI) headquarters is still studying the court material.
On March 7, dozens of Yon Armed personnel attacked the OKU police headquarters, heavily damaging the building.
On Monday two weeks ago, investigators from the Palembang Military Police handed the case files of the 19 suspects to military prosecutors. Spokesman for the South Sumatra Regional Police, Adj. Comm. R. Djarod Padakova said the files were declared complete.
The suspects will be held accountable for their conduct in front of a military tribunal, charged with a number of crimes, "depending on their role and involvement," Jauhari said.
