Joint Team Formed to Probe Ciracas Sector Police Station Burning

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Headquarters stated that the burning of the Ciracas Sector Police Station on Jalan Raya Bogor, East Jakarta, was handled by the Jakarta Metro Police and East Jakarta Resort Police. The incident that occurred at Ciracas Police Station was allegedly carried out by a group of people.

“A joint team has been formed, from the Jakarta Metro Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate and East Jakarta Resort Police, to investigate the alleged attack on the Ciracas Police Station,” said the Head of Public Information Bureau at the National Police Public Relations Division Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo in his office, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 12.

The Ciracas Sector Police Station was attacked by the mass on Tuesday night, December 11. The incident was allegedly as the aftermath of a conflict that occurred between TNI (Indonesian military) members and parking guards at the Arundina complex, Cibubur, East Jakarta, Tuesday afternoon.

Based on a press statement from the East Jakarta Resort Police, the mass damaged and burned down the Ciracas Police Station complex. The tragedy caused four police to become victims, including Ciracas Police Chief Comr. Agus Widartono.

“Now they have recovered and have returned to work,” said Dedi. In addition, 16 cars were damaged.

Dedi appealed to the community, especially residents who live around the scene to remain calm.

“We have handled the case in a professional manner and the current situation in Jakarta is very conducive. Please let the community do their daily activities as usual,” said Dedi.
