TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the government has been focusing on building infrastructures such as highways, toll roads, airports, ports, and dams in the past four years.

“Most will be finished by the end of this year and there will be more at the beginning of 2019,” Jokowi said at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 11.

For example, said Jokowi, the toll road from Surabaya to Jakarta will be connected at the end of 2018. “It means that we are working on it. Only a few segments remain unfinished,” he said.

The ongoing toll road projects from Jakarta to Surabaya include Batang to Semarang, Salatiga to Solo, Wilangan to Kertosono and Pemalang to Batang. "We expect the Merak to Banyuwangi will be finished by the end of 2019,” the president said.

He also mentioned the construction of the Trans Sumatra road from Lampung to Aceh. Jokowi expects the Lampung to Palembang section should be finished by the end of December, mentioning the finished section of Bakaehuni to Terbanggi Besar, which was 148 km long.

The other infrastructure project is the dam, according to Jokowi, many dams that have been finished pending for the inauguration. But it was still postponed due to Jokowi’s busy schedule.

The government will also immediately inaugurate the major ports. In North Sumatra, Jokowi will inaugurate the Kuala Tanjung Port at the beginning of next month. As for the Makassar New Port, the president hopes that it would be finished in early 2019.
