BI Reminds Public of Pulling Old Banknotes out of Circulation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) will soon pull out old banknotes out of circulation. The retraction is in line with the issuance of Bank Indonesia Regulation No.10/33/PBI/2008 on November 25, 2018.
The banknotes that will be taken out of circulation are The Rp10,000 bill issued in 1998 with a picture of national hero Tjut Njak Dhien on its face value, the Rp20,000 bill issued in 1998 with a picture of Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the Rp50,000 bill issued in 1999 the face image of WR Soepratman, and the Rp100,000 bill from 1999 emissions with a picture of Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta.
BI urged the public to immediately exchange the old banknotes with new ones, which have been issued since 2016.
"For the people who still have these old bills, they can exchange at all Bank Indonesia offices until December 30, 2018," the central bank issued a press release as quoted from the Cabinet Secretariat's official website on, Tuesday, December 4.
The exchange service is opened by BI until December 30, 2018, including the special services on December 29 and 30.
