TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The survey of the National Counter Terrorism Agency or BNPT showed that 63.60 percent of respondents believed that local wisdom could effectively counteract radicalism.
“Local wisdom is believed to be the power of social control. The score is high,” said BNTP Head Suhari Alius when met in South Jakarta, Thursday, November 29.
From the survey, BNPT found that the knowledge of local wisdom was still relatively low, at 30.99 percent. In fact, 14,400 respondents surveyed from January to October were academicians from all provinces in Indonesia.

According to Suhari, the low-level knowledge of local wisdom is in line with the government’s low-level dissemination of local wisdom.
“Local wisdom as a value has not been fully implemented in people’s lives, even though it is believed to be effective in counteracting radicalism,” he said.
Suhari said the BNPT had prepared several steps in response to the findings such as by packaging the documents of local wisdom in more attractive ways.
“[We have to do the] redefinition and reformulation, so that local wisdom will be a complete value for the community,” he said.
