TEMPO.CO, Depok - PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) president director Dwi Wahyu Daryoto said his company planned to change the old design of BMW stadium which was initially set for a football field to be an integrated area.

“It [the old design] will be surely changed because it is not in line with the recent era,” Dwi told Tempo in the University of Indonesia campus in Depok, Tuesday, November 27.

According to him, BMW stadium would be developed as a multifunction area. The stadium could be later used for art performances besides sports. “Who knows the LRT will later connect to there [the stadium], and Sunter will become water tourism site.”

Dwi explained international stadium in many countries were built near the train station. Thus, Jakpro would also construct the integrated transportation service.

Other than sports facility, Dwi continued, Jakpro would build transit-oriented development (TOD) in the stadium which was designated for Persija Jakarta, and so the city’s football club could manage it well.

“The business is not only about soccer. It [the stadium] can be used for attraction shows. Later, the international singer can hold a concert there,” Dwi pinned hope.

The TOD construction in BMW stadium could also fulfill the residential needs for the low-income people. The plan was expected to accommodate the zero rupiah down payment of housing program.

Due to changes in the design of BMW Stadium, its construction was impossible to be completed within a year. The preparation stage itself required one year. “The budget must be allocated again in the next year regional regulation,” Dwi remarked.
