
TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The state company Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI held a “Book Fair on Station” at six train stations to increase public reading interest by providing books as the source of reading in the station area.
“The event which is held for five days on November 14-18, is held simultaneously at six train stations,” said Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiaji, Vice President Passenger Marketing of KAI, at the opening of the “Book Fair on Station”, Wednesday night, November 14.
The six train stations are Gambir Station, Bandung Station, Yogyakarta Station, Purwokerto Station, Semarang Tawang Station, and Surabaya Gubeng Station.
During the event, the visitors can buy quality books that have been provided by Gramedia Store. The price of the book was given a discount of 10 percent. In fact, for those who can show the KAI Access application that has been registered on their smartphones, they will get an extra 5 percent discount.
The children visitors can also participate in different activities every day. These activities include coloring competitions, short story writing competitions, announcer competitions, pouch painting, and children’s talk shows.
According to the Executive Vice President of Operation Region 6 Yogyakarta Eko Purwanto, the “Book Fair on Station” is an effort to provide various knowledge to the public.
“Because the place is at the station, this event can be a unique and fun educational media for children,” said Eko Purwanto.
