TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that Mamasa District in West Sulawesi was hit by a series of low-intensity earthquakes earlier today at 02:53 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The earthquake was measured by the BMKG to be comprised of a Magnitude 3.5 earthquake (02:53 WIB), M 3.0 (03:20 WIB), M 3.2 (03:58 WIB), and the last earthquake that hit the area is an M 2.6 (04:17 WIB).
The earthquake’s epicenter was known to originate three kilometers south of Mamasa with a hypocenter at the depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquakes were felt by neighboring region Polewali Mandar District but at a lower intensity of Level II and Level III.
Prior to the earthquake in Mamasa, 37 kilometers Southeast off of Poso in Central Sulawesi was also hit by an M 4.6 earthquake at 02:04 WIB.
