TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Indonesian national football team coach Luis Milla confirmed he will no longer take part in Indonesian football coaching after the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) officially appointed Bima Sakti as his replacement.

This decision by the PSSI sparked a response from Luis Milla who expressed his gratitude for the trust that was given to him throughout his coaching career with the Indonesian national football team. However, he also expressed criticism aimed at what is believed to be the PSSI.

“Today is not an easy day for me, since I will not continue as a coach in Indonesia. A project more than a year and a half come to an end, where despite poor management, constant breaking of the contract and low professionalism of the leaders,” said Luis in his Instagram post that he posted on Sunday, October 21.

Despite the criticism that is believed to be aimed at PSSI, at the end of his Instagram post, Luis Milla thanked everyone involved in the long-term project and also said; “I leave with the feeling of having done a good job. Indonesia will always be my second homeland.”

Throughout his long tenure in coaching the Indonesian national team, Luis Milla had two target of which he did not succeed to meet, firstly was when the Indonesian national team did not achieve their goal in the 2017 SEA Games for gold and recently failing to meet PSSI’s goal in the 2018 Asian Games.
