“There are points of partnership in the agreement. So, we each have responsibilities,” said Rahmat on Thursday, Oct 18.

In the agreement regarding the landfill management of the Integrated Waste Management Facility (TPST) Bantargebang, Rahmat explained, not only a party who obliged to comply with the obligation. “Bekasi City is not a servant of Jakarta, so we must respect each other,” he underlined.
According to Rahmat, Jakarta has two responsibilities, which are giving compensation money worth Rp900,000 to 18,000 families in Bantargebang and building the infrastructure as well as rehabilitating the environment. “We have partnership duties and that without progress,” he said.

However, Bekasi had not received the fund yet this year which prompted its Transportation Agency halted 51 garbage trucks owned by Jakarta in Jl. Ahmad Yani, Bekasi. The act sparked polemic between Jakarta and Bekasi administrations in light the arrangement of waste management in Bantargebang.
“Jakarta and Bekasi have a cooperation agreement. But, Jakarta does not fulfill its right and obligation,” said Yayan Yuliana, head of Bekasi Transportation Agency.
