Jokowi to Hand Out 2018 Asian Para Games Athlete Bonus Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi said President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo would directly hand out the bonus for 2018 Asian Para Games today, October 13, before the closing ceremony in the State Palace.
“Pak President will directly give the bonus,” said Imam during a conference press in GBK Arena, Friday, October 12.
According to Imam, the reward would be in the form of savings account and the ATM card. The athletes would receive the bonus in person, without tax reduction as it was on the government.
The minister claimed the bonus distribution for Asian Para Games athletes was the fastest and that a proof of government's determination in appreciating the athletes.

For athletes who did not earn a medal, Imam continued, the government would give a gift with the same amount of that for Asian Games athletes.
In addition, the para-athletes would be promoted as the civil servant or SOEs employee. Imam explained people with disability had equal opportunity in building a career in the governmental work. Aside from the infrastructure, they also needed a space to develop.
“Despite their limitation, they also dream of being a deputy, minister, and others,” Imam said.
As of Thursday, October 12, Indonesian athletes had collected 33 golds, 42 silvers, and 48 bronzes. The achievement brought Indonesia perched in sixth in the 2018 Asian Para Games final standing.
