TEMPO.CO, JakartaSapto Yogo Purnomo contributed the third gold medal for Indonesia on Monday after finishing first in the men`s 200 meter T37 of the 2018 Asian Para Games para athletic event.

Sapto clocked 23.76 seconds beating two athletes from Iran - Ali Olfatnia clocking 24.27 seconds to win the silver medal and Davoudali Ghasemi finishing in 24.38 seconds to win the bronze medal.

"This is a surprise actually as my gold medal target is expected from 100 meter event. In the 200 meter event I am expected to win only a silver medal," he said after the race at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

The 20-year old athlete from Central Java said the key to his victory was self-confidence.

He said although it was his first participation in the Games he was not afraid to meet more experienced rivals, adding "I do not want to loose."

Sapto may still contribute more medals as he will still take part in the 100 meter T37, 400 meter T37 and 4x100 meter universal relay events.

Regarding the possibilities to win more medals he said he was optimistic he could perform well again.

Indonesia has so far collected five gold medals consisting of three from para athletics, one from men`s SL3-SU5 badminton group event and another one from Syuci Indriani from the women`s SB 4 breast stroke swimming event.
