Susi Pudjiastuti Delivers 5 Tons of Processed Fish to Students

TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - The Fishery and Maritime Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti today, October 3, delivered 5 tons of various processed foods made from fish to thousands of students and parents at Islamic Boarding School Al-Ihsan in Kampar Regency, Riau Province.
“We will eat fish together today and keep eating fish later,” said Susi Pudjiastuti, greeted by loud applause from the students in Kampar, Riau, Wednesday, October 3.
Susi Pudjiastuti explained the government strived to recover the national production of fish. Hundreds of illegal ships sailing in the country’s waters arrested. “Sink them,” she ordered.

She went on to say that the government attempted to boost the national fish consumption rate, which currently stays at 35 kilograms, to 45 kilograms per capita per year. The figure was far below Japan at 80 kilograms per capita.
“I campaign [about fish consumption] across Indonesia, so all of us like to eat fish,” she added.
Minister Susi further said consuming fish is healthier than eating red meat. Besides, the price is also cheaper. “Fish is rich in omega 3 to increase our brain quality. Children age under 1,000 days and eat fish since childhood will likely become champion at school.”
Therefore, minister Susi Pudjiastuti appealed to all parents to encourage the children to consume fish.
