TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The contingents of 2018 Asian Para Games from three countries have arrived in Indonesia on Sunday, September 30. They directly stayed at athletes dorm in Kemayoran, Jakarta.
Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) NPC Relation director M. Nasser Insanial said the first delegation touched down in Indonesia was Bahrain, following Afghanistan and China. According to Nasser, a total of 74 athletes represented China along with 71 officials.
Nasser explained that despite the delegation arrivals, the official opening of the games would take place today, October 1. “Contingents from other countries will later arrive as scheduled,” he said.
A total of 2,831 athletes from 43 countries will compete in 18 sports branches in the 2018 Asian Para Games held in Jakarta. As the host, Indonesian contingents recorded at some 300 athletes and set to be in the top ten with 16-17 gold medals. Eight sports arenas are located in the GBK Senayan including basketball, archery, swimming, lawn bowl, and athletics, while the other 11 locations are spread from Ancol to Sentul.
