GBK Stadium completely revamped

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police plans to close-off several public streets in the vicinity of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium during the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony that will be held in August 18.

“The closure will be effective for just one day at areas in close proximity to GBK,” said Metro Jaya Traffic Police Director Grand. Comm. Yusuf on Tuesday, August 14.

The streets that will be closed include the Gerbang Pemuda Street and the Asia Africa Street, which according to Yusuf will start from 14:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) meant to clear the area before the ceremony starts at 19:00 WIB.

According to Yusuf, state leaders that will be present in the Asian Games opening ceremony will be able to pass the roads that are closed off for the public.

Indonesia is set to host the 2018 Asian Games that will be held in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2 with 11,429 athletes from 45 countries that will compete in 462 games.
