TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have so far uncovered prostitution practices in five out of the 18 towers at Kalibata City Apartment Complex in South Jakarta. Among the practices uncovered is child prostitution.
"There are proven cases of prostitution in 17 units," Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Division deputy director Adj Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam Indradi said here on Wednesday, August 8.
The number will likely go up, as the police are still developing the latest case after arresting three men last week, including two marketing agents of Kalibata City Apartment, whose jobs were to rent units to prospective sex workers. The other suspect is allegedly the pimp.

"Hopefully this would be the last time this happens here," Ade said.
In the latest case, the police said that 32 people were involved in the sex business; 17 sex workers and 15 customers—who communicated though BeeTalk chat app. Five of the sex workers and two of the customers are underage between 16 and 18 years old.
In July, the police also found three teenage girls working as prostitutes in the same apartment complex.
The Jakarta Metro Police's Youth, Children and Women Sub-Directorate chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Azhar Nugroho suspects that the teenagers are from the same prostitution network.
