TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The low-cost airline company Lion Air Corporate Communications Strategic, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, said the low-cost carrier (LCC) initially offered separate options of flight services. However, he assured LCC keep prioritizing the safety, security, and convenient during the flight.

“LCC offers low fares, so no food or beverage is provided during the flight but the passenger can still purchase in-flight meals,” said Danang in a phone interview with Tempo, Thursday, August 2.

Earlier, commissioner of state-owned airline operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) Rhenald Kasali commented on the viral video of a Lion Air passenger complaining about a damaged baggage to the officer. Rhenald appealed to all passengers boarding in LCC to be more aware of their belongings.

“Passenger can reduce the risk of missing or damaged baggage by utilizing optimal security key,” he said.

Danang also demanded all passengers not worry over the safety of the no-frills airlines considering the flight procedures and management were based on the service standards.

“LCC is a travel option that follows the recent demand era, especially among millennial travelers, because they can travel with a simpler service,” he added.

Danang optimistic the low-cost carrier would further ease the tourist trips between countries and regions as well as boost the development of trade, tourism, logistics, industry, and others.

“It is a mandate that all [LCC] procedures prioritize the safety, security, and convenience. It means that no different issue on the service or class of the airline,” said the Lion Air official.
