TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina workers union joined in Federasi Serikat Pekerja Pertamina Bersatu held a massive rally due to the plan of the state gas and oil company in selling its asset. The demonstration was a response towards the recent condition of the company.
At least six demands were delivered during the rally dubbed “Act to Defend Pertamina” today, July 20, in the SOE Ministry’s building. First, the workers union refused the sales of Pertamina’s asset. “Selling assets in upstream projects and refineries will not solve Pertamina’s financial problem,” said the workers union spokesperson Hendra Tria Saputra in a statement in Jakarta Friday, July 20.
Second, they demand Pertamina’s board of directors who were responsible for the matter to be cut.

Third, the workers union request to eliminate the conditional sales and purchase agreement between Pertamina and state-owned gas company PGN which was a part of the acquisition process of PGN to Pertamina’s subsidiary Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) worth 51 percent shares.
Forth, they demand Pertamina’s board of directors stop all integration process of Pertagas and PGN as Hendra considered the agreement a wrong move since both company’s led by acting president director.
Fifth, the workers union demand the Directorate of Gas be re-activated. According to Hendra, the directorate was shut down due to the holding company between Pertamina and PGN while, in fact, it was a drive for Pertamina’s future business in the gas sector.
Sixth, they demand a reduction in Pertamina’s board of directors. To date, the gas and oil company has 10 directors and one acting president director Nicke Widyawati. The workers union deemed the number of directors was unnecessary and should be lessened.
