TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  The Jakarta administration is gearing up to hold the Festival of Jakarta Great Sale (FJGS), which will last from August 12-September 4, 2018. The festival, themed Spirit of Jakarta, is a collaboration between the Jakarta government and the Indonesian Shopping Center Managers' Association (APPBI).

Ellen Hidayat, the head of the festival's organizing committee-cum-APPBI chair, said visitors would get up to 70 percent discounts during the event and 100 percent discounts during the midnight sale program.

“We'll give more discounts at midnight sales. The discount ranges from 10 to 20 percent, depending on the resellers that collaborated with us,” Ellen told a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, July 12.

Ellen went on to say that the midnight sale would be held alternately every week at 13 shopping malls. In addition, there will be prizes in the form of shopping vouchers up to Rp140 million at 39 shopping malls throughout the capital. The program will commence at 20:00 to 00:00 local time.

“So, we will hold the midnight sale starting at 20:00. And we will also give free parking,” Ellen added.

Ellen mentioned the 2018 Jakarta Great Sale Festival would be different from those in the past as it would take place in conjunction with the 18th Asian Games. According to Ellen, the event will be a momentum to introduce Jakarta as one of the shopping destinations in Asia.
