TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State toll road operator Jasa Marga ensures that an e-money will not be expired if the user spends a long time on the toll road.
“We affirm that it will not make your electronic money either expired or unusable, or even reduced your e-money's balance,” Jasa Marga's Assistant Vice President Corporate Communications Dwimawan Heru said in a written statement on Tuesday, June 12.
Heru's statement responded to the news circulating on the expired e-money that could no longer be used to pay tolls. On the other hand, at the end of last year, a circulated news saying that a fine must be paid by the e-toll card users if they spend time too long on the toll road.

In mid-September last year, there was also a rumor that one of the road users initially entered the toll gate of Baros and exited at the Padalarang toll gate after more than two hours. Normally, the toll fee to be paid is Rp3,500, but because it is considered too long to be on the toll road, he was fined for Rp287,000.
Responding to the news, Heru denied that e-money can be expired due to overtime on the toll road. “The electronic money can still be transacted manually,” he said.
Heru explained that the toll fee bill will be traded by Jasa Marga officials outside the automatic toll booth (GTO) using EDC machine. “We also never give fines or sanctions on the incident,” he said.
Jasa Marga, Heru said, only monitors the duration of the toll road users' when tapping the e-money at the tollgate.
“We assert that the toll road users are free to use the [e-money] card, within reasonable limits, without the concerns of electronic money being expired,” Heru said.
