KAI: 45,054 People Travel by Train in Eid al Fitr Homecoming

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Relations Senior Manager of state-run railway operator Kereta Api indonesia (KAI) Edy Kuswoyo revealed that there are 45,054 people that have used the train as a means of travel in this year’s Eid al-Fitr homecoming.
“That was recorded from the morning up to the evening of Saturday, June 9,” said Edy today who also revealed that the number was just from two train stations; Pasar Senen station and Gambir station.
Furthermore, Edy said that KAI has prepared 77 train departures that consist of 57 regular trains and 20 additional trains.
Pasar Senen station accommodated 25,297 people’s homecoming on Saturday with 26 regular trains and 8 additional trains.
Based on KAI’s records, that number is a slight increase compared to Friday, June 8, that saw 25,028 people traveling by train. However, compared to Thursday, June 7, that number is an increase from 23,838 people.
Meanwhile, Gambir station accommodated 19,757 people with 32 regular trains and 12 additional trains. As previously reported, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that the government have prepared 393 trains to support this year’s Eid al-Fitr transportation services.
