TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi has called on G20 countries to display leadership and contribute concretely to the ongoing fight against terrorism and securing world peace.
The minister told the foreign ministerial meeting at the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that terrorism still posed a high threat, as evident in the recent string of suicide bombing attacks in Indonesia on Sunday, May 13.

“The people of Indonesia are not afraid, we shall not be afraid in battling terrorism, and we should not give terrorism any space to move,” Retno said on Sunday, May 20, 2018, local time.
Retno said the terror attacks in Surabaya were alarming as they involved family members, including children. Thus, Retno appealed to all G20 countries to cement global ties in combating terrorism. She also proposed that counterterrorism issues should become an integral part in G20 meetings.

On this occasion, Retno also voiced the nation’s appreciation towards the support and solidarity of the G20 countries for Indonesia in the wake of the recent terror attacks.
