AP II to Add 12 Cars of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Skytrain for Eid

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - State airline operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) will gradually operate twelve cars of Skytrain at Soekarno-Hatta airport to anticipate the exceeding amount of passenger during Eid homecoming this year. The six trainsets (12 cars) will be added from previous two trainsets (4 cars).
“The operational target is in July for the homecoming exodus,” said AP II Vice President of Corporate Communication Yado Yarismano to Tempo, Thursday, April 26.

Yado explained the trainsets will be arrived gradually and then the certification and feasibility will be tested before the operational. He expected the additional trainsets will reduce the train headway from ten minutes to five in every shelter as well as reducing the connecting time with the airport train so that the passenger would not have to wait for a long time.
According to Yado, the Skytrain in Soekarno-Hatta airport is mostly used by passengers from airport station, employees in the airport, and the passengers for their transit.

The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Skytrain served the transportation between Terminal 3, Terminal 2, the Integrated Building, Terminal 1 and vice versa. One trainset of Skytrain able to serve 167 passengers.
