TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sukmawati Soekarnoputri has been reported to the Jakarta Metro Police by a lawyer Denny Andrian Kusdayat today for her poetry, which he considered a blasphemy against Islamic teachings.
“As of today, I reported Sukmawati for an alleged blasphemy,” said Denny at the Jakarta Metro Police headquarters in South Jakarta today, April 3.
According to Denny, Sukmawati Soekarnoputri had compared the Islamic sharia with the use of konde or hair buns. He argued that Sukmawati had also disparaged the adhan (Islamic call to worship).

“A video recording of when (Sukmawati) said that the Islamic sharia was compared to the use of hair bun, (and) the motherland hymn is more beautiful than the adhan. It belittled God since the word 'Allah' is pronounced in the prayer call,” Denny explained.
The lawyer claimed that he was personally moved to report Sukmawati to authorities. He has also filed several contents from social media accounts as proof.
Sukmawati Soekarnoputri could be charged with Article 156 a Criminal Code on blasphemy and Article 16 of Law No. 490/2008 on the eradication of racial and ethnical discrimination.
