Bike Lane to be Included in Sudirman-Thamrin Sidewalk Design

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Bina Marga Agency Yusmada Faizal said the design of Sudirman-Thamrin sidewalk will be socialized today, Tuesday, March 6. The dissemination of the design became the start of the sidewalk construction project in the area.
"The dissemination will be followed by Sudirman-Thamrin sidewalk revamps in Balai Agung," said Yusmada at Jakarta City Hall, Monday, March 5.

However, Yusmada said the construction will not acover a whole area but possibly start on Sudirman area to Dukuh Atas first.
"From the Sudirman MPP, it starts from Semanggi to the North, while to the south, it goes from Senopati corner," he said.
Yusmada said the sidewalk to be widened is at least as wide as 8 meters which 3 to 4 meters will be used for green open space including shelters, lighting, benches, and plants. While the 2 meters is the bike lane.
He claimed the demolition work on the separator is quite heavy. The next hard work is to move the trees in the location. However, Yusmada asserted that he would complete the project before the Asian Games.

Yusmada stated there are three sources that will fund the development project. The revamping of sidewalk will use the remaining fund of Rp219 billion from Simpang Semanggi Construction, from the compensation of PT Mitra Panca Persada, PT Mass Rapid Transit, and PT Keppel Land.
The dissemination of Sudirman-Thamrin sidewalk revamps, Yusmada added, will be presented in front of a number of stakeholders, among them building owners around the location, observers, academics, and community leaders.
