TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Communications and Information Ministry (Kominfo) set the deadline to register the prepaid phone cards until February 28, 2018. The registration is simple and does not take a long time.
"The deadline will be on February 28," said Noor Iza, Public Relations Head at Communications and Information Ministry when contacted by Tempo on Tuesday, October 24.
Noor stated that prepaid phone cards that have not been registered by February 28 will be blocked gradually. The target of prepaid cards to be registered is 330 million numbers.
The registration is quite simple. The customer only needs to prepare family card (KK) number and resident registration number (NIK), then send short messages or SMS to 4444 with a certain format according to each provider rules.
For the old prepaid phone card, the SMS registration is as follows:
1. Telkomsel
ULANG(space)NIK#NomorKK#
2. Indosat, Smartfren, and Tri
ULANG#NIK#NomorKK#
3. XL Axiata
ULANG#NIK#NomorKK
While for a new card:
1. Telkomsel
Reg(space)NIK#NomorKK
2. Indosat, Smartfren, Tri
NIK#NomorKK#
3. XL Axiata
Daftar#NIK#NomorKK
Noor said only three numbers for one NIK and KK number can be registered via SMS. However, the government gives a chance for customers to register the fourth and fifth by doing registration in provider offices. "The condition is, go to the operator's booth to register directly," he added.
"As for now, there is no un-registration program for registered cards. So, if there are customers who want to change the number which had been registered, they must wait for the card grace period up to three months," said Noor.
