TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi received Ghazi Amanullah Medal from Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani during his visit on Monday, January 29. The award was given at a state lunch at the Arg Presidential Palace, Afghanistan.
“Thank you for the Ghazi Amanullah Medal. This medal will become a new spirit to improve bilateral relations and peace,” Jokowi said at the Palace when a press release on Monday, January 29.
The medal was given as a tribute to Jokowi’s courage in promoting bilateral relations between Indonesia and Afghanistan, especially about seeking peace in Afghanistan. “Peace is not a situation that comes from heaven,” he said.
Jokowi explained that Indonesia always provides support for reconciliation and peace in Afghanistan. He invited the Afghans to bring peace together.
“I always pray for the President Ghani's health and the prosperity of our people,” he said.
During his visit to Afghanistan, Jokowi affirmed his support for the construction of the Islamic Center (IIC) in Kabul. The plan, health facilities will be incorporated in the area this year.
President Jokowi and his entourage arrived in Afghanistan amid a bombing terror attack that took place in Kabul since Saturday last week.
