TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Australian government announced that Indonesians who want to travel to the down under can now apply for visas online. This is part of the Australian Immigration's new, more efficient system.

Online application can be done by first making an ImmiAccount via https://online.immi.gov.au. Applications can be done 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson said the e-visa will help many Indonesians who want to visit Australia.

"The new e-visa will make things easier for Indonesians to apply for a visa without having to leave their homes," Ambassador Grigson said in a statement released by the Australian Embassy on Monday, November 20.

He said that the number of visa application by Indonesian citizens increased greatly after the Australian government offered a three-year multiple entry visa.

From 2016 to 2017, Indonesians filed more than 118,000 visa applications. Indonesia is third largest country for visa applications to visit Australia (subclass 600).
