TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned weapon manufacturer PT Pindad and Saudi Arabian electric product and component manufacturer Alfanar Company signed memorandum of understanding to prepare a joint venture. “We will begin joint production and marketing," PT Pindad president director Abraham Mose said in Bandung on Friday (10/11).
Abraham stated that the cooperation is intended to increase Pindad’s revenue from industrial business by producing new electric component products. The products include low and medium voltage switchgears that state-owned electricity companyPLN has been importing.
Abraham explained that Pindad prepares up to Rp 68 billion investment funds. The funds will be used to build a facility, among others. Alfanar Company wants the cooperation to directly result in joint-venture. However, Abraham said that he doesn’t want to rush things.
PT Pindad Industrial Product Business director Bobby Sumardiat Atmosudirjo stated that three electric products have been agreed to debut including medium and high voltage swtich gears, protection system, and sub station and distribution automation system.
“In a year, we will begin selling to PLN,” he said on Friday (10/11).
