Administrative Error Barred TNI Chief Gatot from Flying to the US

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United States Embassy in Jakarta issued an online statement explaining that Military (TNI) Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo was denied entry to the United States because of an administrative error.

"General Gatot Nurmantyo and his wife were delayed in their ability to board their flight due to an administrative error. The error was quickly corrected. We have taken appropriate measures to prevent this matter from occurring again," the statement said.

Furthermore, the embassy stated that “the error was quickly corrected” and that the Embassy has taken appropriate measures to prevent this matter from occurring again. “There is no restriction on the General’s or his wife’s travel, and we welcome them to
the United States.”

Previously on Saturday, October 21, TNI Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo was personally invited by US Gen. Joseph F. Dunford to attend a conference on October 23-24 dubbed "Chiefs of Defense Conference on Country Violent Extremist Organization" held in Washington DC.
