6 Million Prepaid Mobile Numbers Register ID Number

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Ministry Spokesman Noor Iza revealed that there are currently six million mobile phone numbers that have registered their ID Number (NIK) and family registration certificate numbers, even though the registration policy starts to open on October 31.

“It will be open for registration on October 31. The deadline is on February 28, 2018,” said Noor on October 24.

In accordance with Ministry Regulation No. 21/2017 on Telecommunication Services Customer Registration, mobile phone users are required to register their prepaid numbers in an effort to prevent fraud. Customers will need to send a text (SMS) to 4444 followed by specific formats that depend on the telecommunication provider.

Noor reminded the public that unregistered mobile SIM card numbers will be blocked if consumers do not register before the set deadline. The Ministry expects that there will be a total of 330,000,000 official registered mobile numbers.
