TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A survey shows that smartphone users cannot be separated from their gadgets for more than seven minutes. The survey of internet dependency for everyday use was conducted by the Communications and Informatics Ministry which also resulted that four out of ten Indonesians are active users of social media.
“The physical and cyber worlds have emerged nowadays,” said the Ministry's Staff of Expert Henry Subiakto on Tuesday, September 26. “People even spend up to eight hours a day surfing the internet [through the gadgets],” he added.
Henry said that technology has drastically changed today’s lifestyle by recording every cyber step humans take each day that is stored as the big data. “Whatever we purchase and do are recorded in a global big data such as Google,” he said.
He sees that the world is drastically shifting along as technology develops. Everything that needed a physical contact is currently in the process of converging. “We are getting more dependent on the internet and our gadgets,” Henry said.
