TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The attack on the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) on Sunday, September 17 is suspected to have been allegedly planned.

The YLBHI advocates chairman Muhammad Isnur said their suspicion is based on the spreading of false news through the internet since Friday, September 15. There were posts encouraging the thwarting of an activity planned at the LBH building; saying the event was organized by the Indonesian Communist Party and its supporters.

"The lies were posted to Beritapubliknews.com, which then went viral on Facebook and Twitter," Isnur said in Jakarta, Monday.

According to Isnur, the news portal mentioned that Rahmat Himran, chairman of the Anti-Communist Student and Youth Alliance (Alamak), invited various mass organizations and retired TNI officer Kivlan Zein to coordinate a plain to foil the event at YLBHI. A Tempo source said the planning took place in Cikini.

An eyewitness from the Gusdurian Network, Savic Ali, strongly suspects that the attack was pre-planned judging from the fact that attackers were already carrying stones and rocks in large quantities.

Savic also saw three people coordinating the attack. Additionally, despite coming from different groups, their yelled the same things: "crush the PKI," and "hit the people inside".

"I strongly suspect they have consolidated," he said.

Insp. Gen. Idham Azis of the Jakarta Police said attack involved several organizations, including Alamak and Jawara and Lawyers' Rise (Bang Japar), and other groups.

Alamak chairman Rahmat Himran denied allegations that he was behind the attack.

"I am accused of being an intellectual actor, I will file a report," he said.
