TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The A 1316 Hercules plane carrying Rohingya aid from Indonesia landed in Chittagong, Bangladesh on Thursday afternoon local times. Indonesian Ambassador in Bangladesh Rina Soemarno together with local government representatives personally accepted the aid.
Rina Soemarno directly handed over the aid to District Commissioner of Chittagong Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury who accompanied her at the Shah Amanat International airport. “I'm really glad to receive Indonesia’s humanitarian aid for Bangladesh,” said Rina on Friday, September 15.

The aid will be immediately distributed to the Rohingya refugees that are currently settling at Cox’s Bazar City, which is the closest region from Chittagong in Bangladesh.
Rina has personally paid a visit to the refugee settlement in Cox’s Bazar where she witnessed tents and makeshift shelters with an overcapacity amount of refugees. “They are only supported by bamboo tents which could get blown away by the wind and [ruined by] rain,” she said.
The Indonesian government sent two planes carrying the humanitarian aid from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport on Wednesday, which was monitored directly by President Joko Widodo. The aid for the Rohingya refugees consists of instant foods, rice, clothes, blankets, and tents.
