TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vietnam - based airline Vietjet Air will officially serve a flight route connecting Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City starting from December 20.
"We're finalizing the plan. The course will be served on December 20. It could change if there's something on the way," Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said in Jakarta today, August 22.

According to Budi, Vietjet should be allowed to operate in Indonesia, as the airline is accepted in other countries. Although Vietjet is well-known for its bikini-wearing flight attendants, Budi ensured that the airline would adjust its uniform policy with the Indonesian culture.
"There won't be [bikini uniform]. I've told them that this is a Muslim-majority country. We have to respect each other, and I asked them to wear decent dresses," Budi said.
Currently, Vietjet operates 45 units of Airbus A320 and A321 with 73 flight destinations. It offers low-cost flight services.
“This reflects our commitment to strengthening tourism and business ties between Vietnam and various international destinations, including Jakarta,” Vietjet vice president Dinh Viet Phoung said.
