TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Facebook Indonesia declared its local existence today, August 14, during the inauguration of its Indonesian headquarter.
Facebook also announced that its communities have grown significantly to more than 115 million of Indonesian Facebook users. As a comparison, there are currently 45 million active Instagram users in Indonesia.
Its attempt to support various local communities was announced by Facebook Indonesia’s Country Director Sri Widowati. She claims that the social media giant supports various businesses, businesswomen, the younger generation, and application developers.
“By establishing our latest office, it is our commitment to empowering Indonesian people in developing its communities and making the world even closer [to each other],” said Sri Widowati Monday.
Through its program called #SheMeansBussiness and #BoostYourBusiness, Facebook focused their attention towards more than 9,000 Indonesian businesses, with the majority of female entrepreneurs. The program is held in several major cities in Indonesia such as Surabaya, Jakarta, Bandung, Lombok, Makassar, Manado, Palembang, and Medan.
Facebook also have a program focusing on the internet security through bullying and wellness prevention agenda that partner with youth organizations such as Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa in launching its center for bullying security and prevention.
