TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah suggested that the current Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Spokesman should be replaced. He argues that the position should be filled by an investigator.
“KPK should cut down the non-legal rhetorics,” said Fahri Hamzah at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan today, Agustus 14.
He further suggested that the position must not be filled by an individual that does not understand the technicality of an investigation, considering that they are responsible for producing statements that are directly related to an ongoing legal proceeding.
Fahri gave an example when the e-KTP graft case's key witness, Johaness Marliem, died, the KPK claimed that he was a key witness even though there were no significant statements made by the anti-graft agency regarding Johaness throughout the investigation.
After his unfortunate death was announced, the anti-graft agency said that the legal procedure will not be hampered even though a key witness to the mega-corruption case had died. “Didn’t they said that there would be a problem following the loss of a key witness?,” said Fahri.
Fahri asked KPK to stop issuing confusing statements and to keep within legal facts that are actually taking place.
