Gelora Bung Karno Stadium Renovation is 82 Percent Complete

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium renovation is 82 percent complete ahead of Asian Games next year, whereas swimming stadium is 75 percent complete.
A 86-m long roof is also being installed in the swimming stadium. The government expect to complete the revamp of the two venues by October 10 this year.
Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that other sports arenas that are being renovated include hockey, softball, baseball, archery, ABC football fields, the Sports Palace (Istora), as well as indoor and outdoor tennis courts. The government is also revamping madya stadium, a basket hall and training facilities.
He said that the completion of the construction works is on schedule. The construction of hockey, archery, and A/B/C football fields are 99.56 percent complete, whereas indoor and outdoor tennis courts are 98.82 percent complete.
Basuki added that Gelora Bung Karno hockey field has been certified by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) on May 17.
Meanwhile, the revamp of GBK compound is 12 percent complete as the contract was only signed on May 18. The project is expected to be completed by December 31.
The renovation works of GBK are being carried out by state-owned Adhi Karya on a Rp253.8 billion contract and state-owned Waskita Karya on a Rp323 billion contract.
