TEMPO.COBogor - Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo and Democrat Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) have agreed to file a judicial review of the election law.

Democrat deputy chairman Syariefuddin Hasan said that both Democrat and Gerindra were rejecting the election law that sets the presidential threshold at 20 percent.

They expect more parties will join them to file a judicial review with the Constitutional Court. Two parties that may follow suit are PAN and PKS, who are also against the election law.

Syarief declined to talk further about the plan to file a judicial review.

Earlier, Prabowo Subianto criticized the recently passed election law after his meeting with former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the latter’s house in Cikeas, Bogor.

"The presidential threshold is a political joke that fools Indonesians," Prabowo told a press conference accompanied by SBY in Cikeas yesterday, July 27. "I don’t want to be part of it."

The meeting between Prabowo and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) was held yesterday from 8:21 to 10:20 pm local time.
