TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo and Democrat Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will meet tonight at the latter’s house in Cikeas, Bogor, to discuss the recently passed election law, Gerindra deputy secretary-general Andre Rosiade said.
Prabowo will be accompanied by Gerindra secretary-general Ahmad Muzani and deputy chairman Fadli Zon.
Aside from the election law, Andre said that the party leaders will discuss possible coalition in the 2019 presidential election.

Andre said that ahead of the 2019 presidential election, both party will need one another because the election law holds that a president may only be nominated by parties who won 20 percent of seats in the parliament and 25 percent of the total vote count in the general election.
“Gerindra and Democrat cannot nominate their own candidates. A shared perspective will be needed,” he said.
Gerindra plans to nominate Prabowo for president in 2019. The party has yet to decide on who will be his running mate, however. Meanwhile, Democrat decided at a national meeting in May that it will nominate its own cadres, which include SBY’s son Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.
Andre said that Gerindra is looking for a popular potential candidate with high electability rating to run with Prabowo.
