TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy Bambang Widjojanto reminded the anti-graft body about several issues regarding the recent naming of Setya Novanto as a suspect in the electronic ID card or e-KTP corruption case.
"KPK's strategic duty is not completed after naming [Novanto] a suspect, they must also ensure to continue with following procedures until he is brought before the court. This task includes ensuring that the charges against him can be proven in the Supreme Court," Bambang told Tempo, Tuesday, July 18.

Bambang said the KPK must be ready for three potential aftermaths of naming the House of Representatives' deputy speaker as a suspect in the infamous case.
"The first is very possible; pressure from the KPK Inquire Rights' Special Committee becomes more 'brutal' and aggressive; as they will try to disassemble the KPK's existence," he said.
The second thing, Bambang said, is to watch out for unlawful legal or court officials working against the KPK.
"The third, the KPK must anticipate counter-attacks in the form of violence or criminalization."
With Setya Novanto named as a suspect, Bambang predicts that there will be others who will be dragged in the e-KTP graft.
