TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police confirmed that the investigation into an alleged pornographic conversation involving FPI leader Rizieq Syihab is still underway. Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Mochamad Iriawan added that investigators are determined to bring this case to court.
“If there is nothing else that needs clarification, then it is down to the office to declare the case dossier P21 (complete),” he said in Jakarta on Friday, June 30.
Iriawan stated that investigators are waiting for Rizieq Syihab to return to Indonesia because the hardliner group Islamic Defender Front (FPI) leader has not been questioned even though he has been named a suspect.
Although Rizieq is still abroad, Iriawan explained, there is no reason to halt the investigation. Police have not encountered any difficulties in processing the case, he added.
“Well, it’s fine. He can enjoy his trip,” he said.
Before he was named a suspect, Rizieq Syihab had flown to Saudi Arabia with his family to perform umrah (minor hajj). The latest news on his whereabouts is that on Eid al-Fitr 2017 he was in Yemen to meet his children and relatives.
